Our Programs for the Homeless

Women and Childrens Shelter

Our shelter, open until 8:00 PM, is available 365 days a year to anyone in need of a meal and a place to stay over night, without discrimination. However, they must be alcohol and substance free at the time of intake. No religious requirements apply to this phase of the program as physical needs preclude exposure to spiritual needs, but, we hold chapel services daily at a time that is available to them if they should so choose to voluntarily attend.

The Emergency Shelter

A bed in our Emergency ShelterThe client is assisted as to which public services are available and where to begin looking. The men are provided with information on our temporary shelter program should they desire to rebuild and restructure their lives.

Those coming in at the time of the evening meal are fed, assigned a bed for the night, fed breakfast and under-way by 8 A.M. If the client is earnestly looking for employment and housing through the various social agencies, he or she may stay for a period of 60 days if necessary, or longer by the approval of the Executive Director.

The Temporary Shelter

Central to our temporary shelter is a rehabilitation program comprised of a structured workday in and around the Mission. The individuals who generally take part in this program are those to whom life has dealt a heavy blow. Through various circumstances in their lives their world has come apart and they need to bring it all back together. They attend daily classes teaching biblical moral values and principles as they apply to the life of man and developing life skills. Upon successfully completing and graduating the "G.R.A.C.E. Program"; the individual is presented with a "Certificate of Achievement" at their Church.

We strive to change the inner man through Godly values so lacking in the world today. Astounding results are realized as they learn and put to practice these values: character integrity, how to relate and socially interact with their fellow-man, their responsibilities to God, their Saviour Jesus Christ, country, community, and family. Many return to provide for and live with their families or to being a more valuable asset to themselves and their community.

Other's Ministry

Assists with giving away bedding (blankets & sheets) food: produce, baked goods and other food items when available; Monday through Friday. This is done throughout the year. However, during the Holiday season of Christmas, applications are taken during a specified period so that needy Families with children can enjoy what poverty does not afford to a person without means: food, clothing (gloves, hats, mittens) and toys. Toys are especially needed and welcomed during Christmas and throughout the year so that children can enjoy a special Christmas Blessing.

God's Kitchen

God's Kitchen serves anyone needing a hearty nutritious meal, without question of need.

Serving schedule: Breakfast is served at 8:00AM, Sunday - Monday. Lunch is served on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 12:00 PM-12:30 PM. Dinner is served at 4:30 PM-5:30 PM, Monday-Saturday,  Sunday at 2:30 PM. During the Sunday meal a Chapel service is provided with a brief message from the Word of God.

We also offer and serve holiday meals (Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving & Christmas), as well as deliver to shut-in's who are unable to walk or commute; having a legitimate need, for this service during the holidays. On these particular holidays the meals are served from 11:00 AM - 1 PM. Due to the poverty of our area, individuals and families facing tremendous hardships are coming in increasing numbers. The numbers include men, women, children and teenagers.

The (G.R.A.C.E.) Recovery Program

The "G.R.A.C.E. Program (God's Redemption Assurance Compassion Ethics Program)" is a Bible based-Christ centered, faith-based rehabilitation program. It begins with the Word of God, is built upon the authority of Scripture, and is structured according to Bible doctrine: 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.

The G.R.A.C.E. Program at Hope Haven Gospel Mission is designed to provide, and instill, a godly style of living, in a safe and healthy, family oriented environment, for men (ages 18 years old and over) who may be in need of either spiritual or personal structure for their lives.

Men that are unsure about the direction of their lives, have an open door of opportunity in the program to experience a plan for their lives that is only limited by their willingness to believe what God is able to do for them, and wants to accomplish for each individual in need. God's formula for success works, because it is that lever that can lift the world and bring to light new beginnings.

When a person is residing at Hope Haven Gospel Mission in the program, the accommodations for living are set up as a Group/Large House style arrangement. Shower and laundry facilities are provided. Every person eats in the dining room, on the first floor, where the meals are served.
